Notary Certified Translation Fees

As is known, the notary certified translation is the process of notarizing the translations made by certified translators who have taken the oath at the notary public. While some institutions accept certified translations approved by translation offices, some institutions definitely require notarized translations. Some of the institutions abroad also require notarized translations. However, in order for the notarized translation to be valid abroad, apostille certification is required, and for countries that are not included in the Apostille, the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the approval of the embassy / consulate of the relevant country is also required after the approval of the District Governorship.

It is difficult to make a clear explanation about notary certified translation fees. Because the notary takes into account several criteria when calculating. For example, the notarization fee for small documents such as an ID or passport varies between 945 TRY and 1,388 TRY. However, if there is a large amount of text on the translated page requiring notarization, the notary attestation fee also increases. If there are approximately 1500 characters to 2000 characters of text on a page, the notarization fee goes up to 2,500 TRY. In addition to these, the number of papers is also taken into account in the calculation of the notarization fee translated documents. Printing a 2-page article on two separate papers will increase the notarization fee. However, if these two pages are printed on the front and back of the paper, the notarization fee will be more affordable.

Although standard notarization fees are the same everywhere, notary certified translation fees may vary depending on notary public. For this reason, it is important that the translation tasked to notarize your translated document, should prepare this document on as little paper as possible and persuade the notary public to quote a reasonable price.

When calculating the characters for notarized translation approval, a calculation is made by eye for documents other than standard documents, some notaries calculate the characters themselves, while others ask the translation office for large files.

In general, notary attestation prices in Turkey impose a burden for every sector and citizens are mostly faced with higher fees. Because a domestic company wishing to bid in a foreign country is obliged to have all bidding documents translated and notarized.

It will be beneficial for you to prefer notaries and translation offices that can offer you reasonable prices, especially in terms of notary-certified translation fees.

Ankara, İstanbul and İzmir are the leading cities with the highest need for notary certified translation. The translation needs of these cities are also proportional to their economy and population. When the people who need to have a notarized translation in Ankara contact the relevant translation office, the translation office completes all their procedures and delivers the official document attested by the notary public to the customer.

In Istanbul, notarized translation works also follow the same procedures. The translation completed by the certified interpreter is delivered to the customer after being attested by the notary public. If the customers wish, they can have their own attestation by the notary public. However, this translation cannot be attested by every notary public. Because there are only one or several notaries where each interpreter and translation office is registered. Therefore, you can have this attestation process completed by yourself at the notary, where the translator holds the certificate of oath and the translation office is also registered.

Notary certified translation fees are almost the same in İstanbul, İzmir and Ankara. However, in some notaries, very exorbitant figures can be offered to customers. Therefore, as mentioned earlier, it will be in your best interest to prefer a translation agency that will protect your rights and take the necessary actions to get you the most affordable price.

  • There is a difference between a certified translation and a notary certified translation, both of which are certified translations:

The certified translation process is realized with the approval of an interpreter holding the certificate of oath issued by the notary public and the translation office to which this interpreter is affiliated. In other words, the certified translation document delivered to the customers only bears the stamp and signature of the interpreter and the translation office. Such translation jobs are also accepted by many institutions.

However, some official institutions accept more formal form of translation: Notary certified translation. In this translation process, the relevant translation document is also attested by the notary public in addition to the transactions followed in the certified translation process.  Undoubtedly, in this case, the customers will face the notary approval fees discussed above. In such a case, it will be useful for the customers to know exactly which translation method is accepted by the institution requiring the translated document.

  • Foreign institutions that accept certified translation usually state this on their pages: Certified translation, sworn translation, translation must be certified by a sworn translator.
  • Foreign institutions that accept notarized translation also usually state this on their pages as follows: Notarized translation, translation must be notarized from notary public.
